We founded Mookimoo Sleepwear in 2007 after our 18-month old daughter (nick-named "Mookimoo") began removing her clothing at naptime and bedtime. While we knew this was a perfectly normal phase of development and wanted to encourage her creativity, coordination, and self-exploration, we worried that loose sleepwear in the crib created a dangerous suffocation and strangulation hazard. We also worried that since we avoided bulky blankets and bedding, without her clothing, she would be cold and unable to sleep comfortably.
We searched endlessly for a solution to this dilemma and were unable to find pajamas that could not be removed without our knowledge. Our search revealed many frustrated parents and caregivers struggling with the same issue who had unsuccessfully tried everything from duct tape to safety pins. We tried every suggestion that seemed safe, but our clever toddler was able to outsmart us time and time again...and often at the expense of valuable, restorative sleep.
Out of sheer desperation and realizing this phase could go on for months, we designed the "Mooki", a garment that combined all the comfort, quality, and style of a traditional one-piece sleeper, with one important difference, we put the zipper in the back. Needless to say, it worked... immediately! We were ecstatic...problem solved. It even made dressing our wiggle worm easier...instead of lying down, we could now stand her up and she could step into the garment.
We are proud to bring the "Mooki" to frustrated, concerned parents everywhere.
